THE RESULTS ARE IN!

English_PB49 Cycle 14 Results (1).png

Thank you to everyone who participated in this 14th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting in the 49th Ward! Our dedicated group of PB Community Representatives did a great job in collaboration with our office to develop these projects that were ideas submitted by our community.

Alongside infrastructure repairs in the Ward, six PB projects will be funded in this Cycle with the available funding detailed in the infographic above. Some of the projects will require further community input before finalizing their design and implementation. Stay tuned in to our future newsletters to stay updated on the implementation process of these projects!

Project Development - COMPLETE!

Idea collection for the 14th cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB) closed on Monday, August 14th, 2023. Thank you to everyone who submitted ideas!

We are now moving into the next phase of PB: project development. Once people have submitted their ideas during the idea collection phase, the ideas are then sent to committees made up of volunteers. Those volunteers vet the projects and conduct research on feasibility and cost. The volunteers then develop the projects so they may be placed on the ballot.

In the fall, the projects proposed for the ballot are presented to the community at project expos, explaining how those projects came about and answering questions from the community.

The project development phase lasts two months.

Questions? Please contact Mr. Jeff Gonzalez, Community Outreach and PB Coordinator, via email at jeff@49thward.org, or by calling the 49th Ward Service office at 773-338-5796.

Idea Collection Phase - COMPLETE!

There is still time for you to submit Participatory Budgeting ideas!

Here is the guiding question: If you could change one thing about our community that would make life better for you, what would it be?

Please keep in mind that Participatory Budgeting (PB) can only fund projects that are:

  • Infrastructure/physical installations

  • Low-maintenance -- PB cannot pay for staffing

  • Accessible and easy-to-use

  • And open to the public!

Examples of past PB projects include: outdoor exercise equipment at Loyola Park, improved street lighting, turf field at Mary Margaret Langdon Park, public benches, resurfacing of streets & alleys, and much more!

To view the presentation from the PB Community Assemblies, please click the button above.
